Kim was born in the town of Enping, in the province of Guangtung, China. She attended elementary school for 5 years, and middle school for 3 years before entering the workforce.

Kim started work in a clothing factory owned by her uncle. Her role was that of supervisor checking the quality of clothes produced by workers. She later went to work in a family grocery store as a salesperson on Nauru Island off the coast of Australia.

Kim was married to her husband in 1997. Came to Canada in 2001. Worked in a bakery for a few months, then a Japanese restaurant doing various kitchen duties before joining New Hope Day Care.

Kim’s interests include cooking and some gardening.
