I was born and raised in Burnaby, BC. I started looking after children at twelve years old, babysitting neighbourhood children. I really enjoyed being with little ones and playing with them.
I started to attend Faith Baptist Church with my friend and her family. This is where I learned about the Early Childhood Education programme at Northwest Baptist Theological College then located on Marine Drive. I applied, was accepted and took the course in 1985. Upon graduation, I started working in a preschool for a year and then moved to a daycare in Kitsilano where I met Joy Manuel. We worked together for six years then went our separate ways for work but always kept in touch. I worked in a couple of preschools in Vancouver and also took a short break and worked as a child support worker in a transition house for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
In 2011 Joy called and asked if I knew of anyone who was looking for work as a ECE teacher at a daycare as New Hope was opening a three to five-year-old group daycare. I took sometime to think and pray about it and joined Joy at New Hope at my old church. Life comes almost full circle. I still live in Burnaby and I look after my senior mother and the love of my life, my dog Lily. I enjoy coffee with friends and the usual movies and shopping. I also like to be a bit crafty when I can find the time.
